GASTROESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE
  • Also known as ACID REFLUX
  • It is a condition in which stomach contents rise up into the esophagus





- Incompetent LES(lower esophagus sphincter) causes GERD which may also lead to ADENO Carcinoma

CLINICAL FEATURES:

  1. Epigastric pain
  2. Retrosternal heart burn
  3. Reflux and Dyspesia




DIAGNOSIS

 IOC - Endoscopic + Biopsy


  • For diagnosing - 24 hours PH monitoring - DE MEESTER'S SCORE <14.7 is normal and in case of GERD > 14.7


TREATMENT

 DOC - Proton pump inhibitor (PPI)
TOC - Laparoscopic Fundoplication
  • Nissen's - 360
  • Dor - 180 Anterior
  • Taupet - 270 Posterior
